Axle Hub Jam Locking Nut - Rear 2015-2023 S550 Mustang

***These are supplemental Nuts - They Do Not Include the Factory Hub Retaining Nuts Supplied by Ford***
We are offering a solution to prevent the rear axle nuts backing off overtime and contributing to early rear wheel bearing failure. It works by jamming against the factory hub nut helping to resist movement due to the friction forces on the faces of the nuts and and the axle threads.
We offer this kit with 2 Reduced Height Hex Nuts and a Single Use Container of Medium Strength Thread Locking Compound.
We offer it with Zinc Plated Steel Finished Nuts or and 18-8 Stainless Steel Nuts.
We would recommend utilizing the Plated Steel Nuts for any vehicles that would see chemically treated roads to avoid electrolysis reactions.
The Installation can be done in about 10 minutes, if you do not run center caps in your wheels, you can install these with the car on the ground and the wheels on.
You will need either a 31MM Socket for the Steel Nut or a 32MM Socket for the Stainless Steel Nut. The same torque wrench you use to torque your wheels will work for the installation.
Installation Instructions: Neatly apply the supplied thread locking compound to the threads of the nuts and allow them to rest for a couple of minutes. Start them on the end of the axle and tighten them until the make firm contact with the Factory Torqued Axle Retaining Nut. Set your Torque wrench to 100ft/lb and torque the nuts. Depending on the Axle nut used to secure the hubs, the locking nut will end up flush with the axle (darker colored nut on left in above picture) or a few Millimeters of axle with protrude using the brighter colored single piece nut on the right - most popular nut in use)
You can also mark the hub, axle nut and locking nut with a paint pen to monitor any movement.
