1/2"-20 High Strength Racing Lug Nuts - Low Friction Coating
***Now Available in IMSA Yellow***
We have teamed up with Machining Solutions Inc. to offer a purpose built Racing Lug Nut for our track day Customers. Manufactured in the USA from high quality materials, precision machining, heat treating and finished off with a brand new coating process that gives these lug nuts a distinct satin black finish so they look cool enough to run them on the street.
While we are usually function before looks, the attractive finish just happens to be a side benefit of research and development to produce a corrosion resistant coating that is self lubricating, low friction and does not affect the dimensions of the working components of the lug nut. By controlling the thread class to a very tight tolerance along with a precision machined 60 degree conical seat the lug nuts will not bind on the wheel studs. These lug nuts are machined off of a common center so they seat into the wheel squarely and consistently, loading the wheel stud perpendicular to the hub surface thereby greatly minimizing any chances of fatigue failures due to side loading and inconsistent torque values.
Due to the strength of the lug nut we are able to offer these with a 19MM (3/4") Hex size size so they can be used on most wheel designs that have very compact lug nut pockets. These lug nuts will also survive heavy use of an impact wrench without distorting the wrench flats. The Wrench flats are also precision machined and held to a tight tolerance so sockets fit properly, easily and will not round off and get stuck in the socket. These lug nuts also feature a radiused entry cone to further reduce cross threading, This feature also prevents lug nuts that are glued on from falling off the wheel during a pit stop.
***These are Racing Lug Nuts with a low friction coating and require much less than the factory torque specification to properly pre-load the wheel stud. We recommend reducing the torque value to a maximum of 100ft/lbs. Lubricants are not required and strongly discouraged. Threads may be cleaned periodically with a brush and lightly wiped down with a light lubricant such as WD40. If you are using these on very used wheel studs with damaged or worn threads please replace your wheel studs. If the wheels are maintaining torque consistently there is not need to apply a higher torque. Please keep in mind most modern cordless 3/8" Impact wrenches have the capability to produce very high torques. Use a quality torque instrument for reaching the final torque not verifying that your impact wrench possibly over torqued the fasteners. As with any new installation the installer and user accept full responsibility for proper installation, care and use of our Racing Products***
